What are the benefits of a resident visa in Oman?
"Obtaining a visa in Oman is not just a formality, but a strategic decision. Having a visa opens up additional business opportunities, ensuring the growth of the company, comfort for the family and reputation in the eyes of partners" Sergey Kovalkov, Head of International Practice инкорпораций
Operational business management
The long-term visa allows the executive to freely enter Oman, participate in key negotiations and monitor projects on the spot. This reduces bureaucratic delays and saves time, which is critical in a dynamic market.
Access to tenders and major projects
Government contracts and tenders (e.g. in Vision 2040 projects) require the director to be a resident.
“For our clients, obtaining a visa in Oman is an investment in the future. Company executives especially value predictability: Oman’s stable political system, transparent laws and lack of bureaucratic barriers allow them to focus on business development rather than on administrative issues.”
Ilya Vydrych, Business Development Manager

Investment Visa
In Oman, visas are administered and issued by the Royal Oman Police (ROP). It is responsible for managing all aspects of immigration, including visa issuance, registration of foreigners and extensions of stay.
There are several types of visas that may be useful for business executives planning to operate or manage a business in Oman. These visas allow you to legally reside in the country, manage your business, and bring your family with you if necessary.
The Investment Visa is designed for investors who invest in the Omani economy.
The most common grounds for obtaining:
- Acquisition of real estate;
- Ownership of shares in a company;
- Residence and work in Oman for at least 2 years. It is necessary to confirm receipt of a stable monthly income of at least 4,000 OMR (~ 10,500 USD)
Registration process (4-8 weeks)
Stage 1
Investment confirmation
Provide documents confirming the amount of investment (bank statements, contracts).
Stage 2
Submitting an application
The application is submitted via the ROP online portal. The fee is paid immediately.
Stage 3
Medical tests and biometrics
Submit results to ROP to confirm absence of disease.
Stage 4
Visa approval and issuance
The residence card is issued for a period of 2 years with the possibility of extension.
Work (Employment) Visa
A standard work visa issued to foreign employees, including company executives, who are hired to work in Oman.
The visa is usually issued for a period of 2 years, less often for 1 year. The visa allows multiple exits and entries into Oman, however, the employee cannot stay outside Oman for more than 6 months – the visa will be cancelled.
Changing employers before the end of the contract is only possible with the consent of the current sponsor and the Omani Ministry of Labor.
Conditions for obtaining:
- Having an employment contract with a company registered in Oman.
- Work permit from the Omani Ministry of Labour (requested and obtained by the sponsoring company).
- Qualifications and work experience relevant to the position held.
- Compliance with quotas for foreign employees.
- No other types of visas must have been obtained.
Registration process (3-6 weeks)
Stage 1
Obtaining a work permit for a foreigner
The sponsoring company must obtain permission from the Omani Ministry of Labor.
Stage 2
Employment contract with the company
The company must offer you a management position and sign an employment contract. The contract must be registered with the Omani Ministry of Labor.
Stage 3
Applying through a sponsor
The employer applies for a work visa through the ROP.
Stage 4
Medical examination
It is necessary to undergo a medical examination and submit biometric data.
Stage 5
