Hong Kong prepares to introduce company redomiciliation

On 20 December 2024, the Hong Kong government published a bill to amend the Companies Ordinance to introduce a redomiciliation mechanism. The document was submitted to the Legislative Council on 8 January 2025. It is expected that after its adoption, foreign companies will be able to relocate to Hong Kong while maintaining their legal personality and business continuity. Record volumes of foreign investment in 2024

According to InvestHK, Hong Kong's FDI inflow peaked in 2024, with 539 overseas and mainland companies opening or expanding their businesses in the region (up 41% from 2023). 

New Initiatives in Technology and Trade

Hong Kong authorities have proposed new measures to stimulate promising industries: the creation of an international gold trading platform in Hong Kong, the development of high-income maritime services, and simplified listing procedures to attract foreign companies to the local exchange. In addition, the authorities announced the launch of a HK$10 billion fund for investment in innovative sectors: biomedicine, artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors, new materials, and energy.
