On 20 December 2024, the Hong Kong government published a bill to amend the Companies Ordinance to introduce a redomiciliation mechanism. The document was submitted to the Legislative Council on 8 January 2025. It is expected that after its adoption, foreign companies will be able to relocate to Hong Kong while maintaining their legal personality and business continuity. According to InvestHK, Hong Kong's FDI inflow peaked in 2024, with 539 overseas and mainland companies opening or expanding their businesses in the region (up 41% from 2023).
