Freelancer visa
A freelance visa is a residency option that allows you to legally live and work in the UAE as a freelancer. It allows you to apply for a residence visa and allows you to work for yourself rather than for a company. The holder of a freelance visa receives an Emirates ID and can open a bank account.
Visa Features
With this visa, you cannot hire employees, but you can sponsor your immediate family members (wife, husband, children), i.e. apply for a visa for them. A freelance work permit obtained in a specific free zone is valid throughout the UAE. For example, if you received a license in Abu Dhabi, but plan to work in Dubai, you will not need to obtain a separate permit in this emirate.
Package of documents
The list of documents varies depending on the specific Free Zone where the visa is issued. Usually the following package of documents is required:
- resume (CV);
- a photograph that meets certain requirements;
- copy of foreign passport;
- local phone number;
- If you already have a work visa, but want to additionally provide freelance services, then a letter from your employer stating no objection (NOC letter).
- Depending on the specific Free Zone, additional documents may be required.
